Jefferson City body shop honored as best small business
JEFFERSON CITY - After three unsuccessful nominations for Small Business of the Year in the Jefferson City Area, Fischer Body Shop finally received the award Wednesday.
"This is a very prestigious award. Not that many companies get a chance to win it, so it feels really good. It is a very big honor for us," said Curt Fischer, owner of Fischer Body Shop.
According to the nomination papers, Fischer Body Shop “employs the best technicians in the industry and takes great pride in the industry” and the company “invests in the newest technology and training, ensuring the team to have the latest skills, best tools and constant support in their endeavors to provide the best service and product."
The award was presented at the annual Business Exhibit at the Capitol Plaza Hotel. More than 110 mostly local businesses and 2.000 people attended.
"The business showcase is an opportunity for local businesses and our members to showcase their products and services and to network with other business people. It’s really a unique opportunity for that one-on-one possibility to meet with other business people in the community," said Susan Neill, Director of special events for the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce.
There are more than 500.000 small businesses in Missouri, and a variety of different companies attended today. There was everything from traditional office suppliers to health care and non-profit organizations.
"I think it is unique because in the age of social media and electronics, which makes us all function so much more effectively, it’s nice to just meet with your business people, shake their hands and get to put a name with the face. There are not many opportunities to do that," Neill said.
