JEFFERSON CITY - The Jefferson City council has decided against cutting funding for the JeffTran transportation system and now plans to establish a council to evaluate the system.
The city was going to cut $55,000 from the program, but the after the community voiced its concern the council decided not to.
City administartor Nathan Nicholas said the system was modeled after large cities and was designed to bus workers into the downtown area. He said that is not what Jefferson City is and the bus system needs to change in order to service the community better.
