Lincoln University locked-down in response to gun threat
JEFFERSON CITY - Lincoln University was locked down for about an hour this afternoon in response to a group of students threatening another group of students with a handgun.
"It is not something we see on a regular basis," said Director of University Relations Misty Young. "We are glad we had the response that we did, and we were able to promptly lock the campus down and promptly able to identify the suspects."
The names and photos of the suspects were released to the media earlier today. Police are still looking for Jarell Craig and Marquel Lewis.
Young said the suspects couldn't be easily located, and the university was locked down for the safety of everyone on campus.
The incident occured at Dawson Hall where a day earlier, an argument broke out near the same residence hall. One of the students at Lincoln University said the problem started yesterday when a student was "beaten up" near the student building, although he would not say why.
The Lincoln University Police Department has not made any arrests at this time.
