Man Arrested After Foot Pursuit, Accused of Tossing Toddler

FULTON - Police arrested James Johnston on May 5 after a short pursuit on foot.

Police attempted to stop Johnston's vehicle for a traffic violation. After Johnson failed to yield through the Callaway County hospital parking lot and two fields, police said Johnston abandoned the vehicle.

Johnston got out with of the vehicle with a 2-year-old male and, according to police, threw the child over a barbed wire fence into a field.

After catching Johnston, he was arrested for two outstanding warrants from Callaway County along with driving while revoked, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest for a felony and numerous traffic violations.

Johnston is being held at Callaway County Jail with a bond of $13,760.
