Man arrested after home invasion, residents feel unsafe

COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department has arrested Isaiah Anderson, 19, in reference to the home invasion last night in the 1600 block of Parkside Apartments.

"He admitted post Miranda that he was there to commit a robbery," said Public Information Officer Bryana Larimer.

Anderson also admitted to watching the apartment for four weeks and possessing a firearm during the incident. Anderson stated he intended to lay them down and steal what he found inside.

He also admitted to watching the house for the past four weeks and possessing a firearm.

Detectives are still working to identify another suspect that fled on foot. 

Anderson was arrested on the scene after a struggle with the home's occupants.

"The victim that engaged in the altercation with Isaiah Anderson did sustain lacerations to his scalp and abrasions across his body through the struggle," said Larimer. 

Some residents of the Parkside Apartments said they feel unsafe after the invasion last night. 

"I have a 2 year old daughter, I'm scared. I'm thinking about moving," Jessica Lambert said. 

Lambert said she thought the neighborhood was a quiet place when she moved in about five months ago.

Raymond Tatum said, "Having kids, that just hits hard. That being close, especially being down this way." 

Anderson has been charged for attempted robbery, armed criminal action, burglary and recieving stolen property.
