Medical Examiner Says Construction Accident Victim is Not Dead

COLUMBIA - The Boone County Medical Examiner's Office tells KOMU 8 News their earlier report of a man who died in a construction accident at the Katy Place Apartment Homes Wednesday is incorrect. The Medical Examiner's Office previously told KOMU 8 News that a man working at the apartment complex died Thursday.

The Medical Examiner's Office now tells KOMU 8 News it was a 47-year-old man involved in a separate construction accident at the Lake of Ozarks who died. They say they received false information that led them to believe that it was one of the men involved in the Katy Place construction accident. They also confirm both men in the Katy Place construction accident are alive and well.

Wednesday morning, two workers fell 30 feet from the roof after the scaffolding collapsed at Katy Place Apartment Homes.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration started to investigate the scene of the accident on Thursday afternoon.
