Meeting to Teach Road Safety to Parents and Teen Drivers
COLUMBIA - Parents and students from Hickman and RockBridge high schools are welcomed to attend an hour long session that will discuss road safety for new drivers. The event will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hickman High school and is free.
Columbia Public Schools are hosting this event in conjunction with Reality Week, an educational week at both high schools that addresses issues that affect teens like alcohol, drugs, cigarettes and sex.
Parents and students can gather facts and get safety tips from MoDOT, Think First Missouri and the Columbia Police Department.
"The first six months of driving are the most dangerous times for a young person, so it's important they take the steps to stay safe," said Don Lang, an insurance professional.
This is the eighth year for the event.
