OSAGE BEACH - Every summer weekend is a busy one at the Lake of the Ozarks, but on Memorial Day weekend, the word "busy" takes on a whole new meaning.

"I had a lot of customers that've been coming down to the lake for years and years and were out on the lake on Saturday. They basically said it was the busiest day they've seen in years", said Kelly's Port owner Randy Kelly.

Local marinas welcomed guests from Missouri to Minnesota to celebrate the long holiday weekend. Kelly's Port in Osage Beach saw record breaking gas sales.

"We sold more gas in that single day than we've ever had in our 35 years in business", said Kelly's Port staff member Kyle Kelly.

Not only was this Memorial Day weekend one of the busiest for marinas, it was also one of the safest. In 2011, eight boating related accidents and a drowning were reported. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's website, six people were injured on the Lake of the Ozarks since Saturday, including two in a jet ski explosion.
