Mizzou Assistant Ernie Nestor Resigns from Position
COLUMBIA -- The Missouri basketball team will be looking for another new assistant coach. KOMU 8 Sports confirmed on Thursday assistant coach Ernie Nestor resigned from his position with the Tigers and is expected to take a assistant coaching position at Navy.
Nestor becomes the second assistant to leave Mizzou after Isaac Crew accepted a job with the University of Illinois. Chew was at Illinois for less than two months before he accepted at job with Marquette. Head Coach Frank Haith hired former New Mexico assistant coach Ryan Miller to fill Chew's position in May.
The only coach that still remains on Haith's team is Tim Fuller, who was promoted to associate head coach in late April. Fuller was responsible for helping land recruits such as Connecticut's Alex Oriakhi and Tulsa's Jordan Clarkson along with Stefan Jankovic and Negus Webster-Chan. Fuller also helped recruit last year transfers Earnest Ross, Keion Bell and Jabari Brown.
Sources say Mizzou and former Virginia Head Coach Dave Leitao have mutual interest in the vacant assistant coach position.
