COLUMBIA -- For three quarters Saturday night, it looked like the Missouri Tigers had a chance to start SEC play in style and upset the seventh ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

Early in the second half, quarterback James Franklin found L'damian Washington over the middle, and it was off to the races. Washington takes it 69 yards for the score, giving the Tigers a 17-9 lead... and Faurot Field was rockin'.

But things quickly changed, as the Georgia defense forced two costly turnovers from Franklin - including the interception from Jarvis Jones to set up a Georgia touchdown.

The Bulldogs ended the game on a 24-0 run, to the delight of the many Georgia fans in attendance. And while Franklin's follies hurt the Tigers late., head coach Gary Pinkel defended his junior quarterback at Media Day the following Monday.

"He made a lot of great throws... missed a couple throws. You're not going to make them all. But he was really doing a lot of good things. And let me tell you something, it is very difficult to play quarterback when first of all the snap problems that we've had and also we have an inexperienced offensive line and that's not easy. Okay? He would never say that, nobody would say that. We'll all have to live with it and it doesn't matter either. But what i'm trying to tell you, the lack of continuity affects that position."

The Tigers take an SEC break as they take on Arizona State at home this weekend.
