Moberly homicide investigation suspect charged
MOBERLY - Authorities charged a man in connection to a homicide Friday, the Moberly Police Department said.
Joseph Kertz, 28, of Moberly is accused of murdering 39-year-old Kevin McCuispon of Hallsville. Kertz was charged with seven felonies including first degree murder, second degree arson, first degree robbery, armed criminal action and third degree promoting prostitution, the Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney said.
Yesterday, KOMU 8 News saw state troopers inspecting a vehicle parked at 1412 Wight Avenue. According to the Randolph County Assessor's website, Kertz lives at this address.
This home is located one block away from the home located at 1505 Calhoun Street, where McCuispon's body was found in Thursday morning. Police arrived at the property in response to reports of gunshots. Upon arrival they discovered smoke inside the home. The Moberly Fire Department extinguished the small fire and found McCuispon's body, which had a bullet wound, police said.
According to the RCA's website, this property is owned by David and Margaret Kertz. KOMU 8 News has not been able to confirm any relation to the suspect.
Officials said McCuispon's autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
