MoDot Will Start Construction in Fall 2011
COLUMBIA - Stadium Boulevard is facing some big changes. MoDot announced late last month they will expand lanes on Stadium. The project is an estimated $20 million. It will begin this fall, with an installation of traffic lights on Worley Street.
In January of 2012, MoDot will work on city improvemnts by widening Fairview Boulevard to Bernadette Drive. A new project will start in June 2012. The Stadium overpass over Interstate 70 will be modified into a diamond interchange.
Nicole Hood, MoDOT transportation project manager, says this project will benefit Columbians.
"It will help improve the traffic flow or Stadium Boulevard and help some of the delay that motorists are are experiencing today. There are large volumes of traffic on that corridor and we're hoping this can alleviate some of that congestion", said Hood.
Many mid-Missourian's are looking foward to this new project.
"I've lived in Columbia for over 30 years and in the last few years traffic has really increased dramatically along this area so it needs to be done," said Columbia resident, Claudia Jensen.
Projects will begin this Fall.
