Nixon Lets Abortion Bill Become Law
JEFFERSON CITY - Governor Jay Nixon said Thursday he would declined to act on a bill that bans the abortion of viable fetuses, allowing the bill to become law as a deadline passes. The new law also removes the general health exception that allows abortions and outlaws abortions where a mother's life is not at serious risk or pregnancy could cause physical impairement.
Mid-Missourians traveled to Columbia Thursday to stand in front of the local Planned Parenthood and pray for the patients and offer assistance.
In a news release, Planned Parenthood said the new law will put women in greater jeopardy because it will be more of an obstacle for physcians who are trying to assist women.
