One Injured in Fire at Weil Tire in Columbia

COLUMBIA - A fire broke out on Tuesday at 4:58 p.m. at Weil Tire and Automotive on Old 63 South.

Fire units arrived on the scene, and reported heavy smoke and fire was coming from two automotive bay doors on the north side of the building.

According to Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Sapp, a male employee of the business had suffered burn injuries outside of the building.

The employee was transported to the University of Missouri Hospitals Level One Trauma Center, and then transferred to the George Peak Burn Center at University Hospitals.

The origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation. No official damage is available at this point.
