COLUMBIA - An article released in Eureka-Wildwood Patch online news service Tuesday has people asking questions about Michael Szydlowski, Columbia Public School's science coordinator.

The article reports Szydlowski left the Rockwood School District near St. Louis for the Columbia job just before the district discovered unusually large charges on a district credit card issued to Szydlowski.

The Rockwood School District refused to comment to KOMU 8 Thursday about the accusations. There is no information in Missouri's online court system about any charges.

Michelle Baumstark, Columbia Public Schools Community Relations Coordinator, said that the district was fully aware of what she called "the situation" in Eureka when Szydlowski was hired last year.  Baumstark said the district has full confidence in Szydlowski as science coordinator.

Baumstark said the district is waiting to see what will happen in the case, but does not expect to change Szydlowski's position.
