Pepper's Night Club Owner Hit with Prostitution, Other Charges
COLUMBIA - The Boone County Sheriff's Department arrested the owner of Pepper's Night Club and another employee Friday night after deputies found evidence the club was being used for prostitution. Deputies also seized several firearms and documents indicating illegal use of food stamps.
The owner, 61-year-old Karon Rowe, posted $9,500 bond on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Conversion of Food Stamps, and Promoting Prostitution. Jeremy Flanagan, a 32-year-old maintenance worker at the club, also posted a $4,500 bond on suspicion of Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Both Rowe and Flanagan are convicted felons barred from possessing firearms.
Deputies made the arrests while serving a search warrant with the help of the IRS, Missouri Department of Revenue, and Columbia/Boone County Health Department.
Pepper's Night Club, located at 4515 Highway 763 North, has been the scene of several violent crimes over the last several years. On Thursday, the State filed an injunction that would shut down Pepper's for a year. The injunction says Pepper's has violated liquor laws, acts as a public nuisance, and doubles as a prostitution house. A Boone County court will consider that petition, but no court date has been set.
