COLUMBIA - Mid-Missouri high school football players gathered Wednesday for a pre-season photo shoot. The Pigskin Preview magazine will come out the week of August 10th, highlighting area high school football teams.

The kids are very excited about the upcoming sesason and have spent numerous hours of preparation for a great year. Helias senior quarterback Alex Faddoul still has high expectations for a team that has completely changed their system under new head coach Tim Rulo.

"I'm very excited to see how it goes with the whole coaching change, but we're accepting it a lot and we just have to buy in with everything we have with Coach Rulo," said Faddoul. "I think it's going to be successful."

The Battle Spartans, defending state champions under coach Justin Conyers, are trying to repeat last year's success. Senior defensive lineman Jerrion Nelson believes they have what it takes to defend their title and the team's chemistry is what holds them together most.

"It's great playing for Conyers," said Nelson. "He's more like a dad to everybody on the team. He treats everybody like he would treat his kids. He wouldn't make you do something unless he would do it. He's a really great guy. I love Conyers like he's my dad."

High school football season begins on Friday, August 21st.
