Prosecutor Drops Homicide Charges
COLUMBIA - The Boone County Sheriff's Department said Friday it asked the Boone County Prosecutor's office to drop charges against 25-year-old Deangelo Grant. Grant was originally considered a suspect in the death of Donnell G. Coleman on April 17.
Investigators said Coleman was shot to death during an apparent home invasion. Grant turned himself in to the United States Marshal's Office in Jefferson City and is being held in federal custody on charges unrelated to Coleman's death.
Detectives continue to look for suspects tied to the case. They're looking for two people, but are open to the possibility more are connected.
"We are still very dilligently working this case and we're optimistic we'll bring it to a successful conclusion," said Boone County Sheriff's Department Detective Tom O'Sullivan.
Grant is still being held on other charges not related to this case.
Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Knight has agreed to the sheriff department's request. Investigators in the homicide continue to look for leads and ask anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers online or call 875-TIPS (7477). Information can also go to the Boone County Sheriff's Department online or 875-1111.
