COLUMBIA- The 2011 Alpha Epsilon Pi Rock-A-Thon kicked off Thursday morning in downtown Columbia. Mizzou student Lenny Goldman will rock in a rocking chair for the next 63 hours. Meanwhile, his fraternity brothers will solicit support and donations throughout the community.
All of the proceeds of this event go to the Mid-Missouri chapter of the American Cancer Society. The last Rock-A-Thon, in 2009, raised more than $50,000 for the cause.
The Rock-A-Thon officially began last night with a Sister Hazel concert at the Blue Note theater in Columbia. The festivities end Saturday at 10 p.m., when Goldman stands up and announces the total amount of money raised.
The event started in 1969 and is the single largest fraternal philanthropy in the country.
