COLUMBIA - Lawyers for the developer of the Parkside Estates construction project will ask the Columbia City Council Monday night to table the proposal for the development until its May 20 meeting. The request comes from Southside Trail Estates.

This is not the first time this proposal was tabled. The project was tabled by the city council on February 18 meeting.

According to a letter submitted by attorney Robert Hollis of the Van Matre, Harrison, Hollis, Taylor, and Bacon law firm, "Circumstances have arisen which require further delay with respect to this matter."

City Planner Matthew Lepke said multiple staff from Missouri State Parks have met with developer Southside Trail Estates about a new proposal. But Lepke said there is more the two groups want to talk about.

The two groups have not given the city planning office any information on the discussions, according to Lepke.

Lepke said he doesn't know anything about the possible new plan but that is what the planning staff is seeking. They want to new plan to be substantially different from the previous plan.

Robert Hollis and Missouri State Parks did not return KOMU 8's phone calls.
