Salute to America Celebration in Jefferson City
JEFFERSON CITY -The Salute to America celebration will take place in downtown Jefferson City July 3 - 5. For the fourth, events will be going on throughout downtown all day.
Extreme demonstrations, edgy bands, and a skateboarding contest will take place on the Extreme Stage on the Monroe and High Streets intersection.
Terry Russell of United FMX motorcycle stunt show will be at 2 p.m. and again at 4 p.m.
Anyone can enter the skateboarding contest that will take place at 2:30 p.m. Registration will be set up before the contest begins.
Just down High Street the Madison Stage will be hosting shows throughout the day. The schedule includes Paul Gregor, children's entertainer, J. Pfenny's 3rd Annual Hot dog eating contest, the Solo District Music Group and more.
In Carnahan Memorial Gardens located at the corner of Capitol Avenue and Jefferson Street there will be historical re-enactors from the Civil War, soldiers in uniform, and historical memorabilia starting at 11 a.m. There will also be several restored military vehicles and self-guided tours of the Missouri State Capitol and the Cole County Historical Society.
On the main stage located on the south lawn of the capitol there will be two free concerts before the Red White and Boom firework show.
Bennie and the Jets - a tribute to Elton John will begin at 7 p.m. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the provided concession stands.
The firework show will be on the north side of the capitol. The pre-show will begin around 9:15 pm and the fireworks will begin at dusk.
