Sixth Ward to Hold Transportation Meeting
COLUMBIA - Columbia Ward Six city council member Barbara Hoppe is hosting a transportation meeting Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The meeting is at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Columbia. Residents will have a chance to discuss transportation throughout the city's sixth ward. The meeting will focus on what Columbia Transit should look like in five years, what challenges there are in trying to reach that vision and what can be done done in the short term and long term to overcome the challenges. One of the major challenges is that the city's transportation budget could face a $1 million cut next year.
Several residents came out to the meeting because they fear their routes could disappear with the budget cut.
There will be an open house summary of Monday's meeting and a presentation of the strategy on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church.
