HOLTS SUMMIT - A social media post led to officers and deputies arresting a suspect who allegedly stole packages from the doorsteps of multiple houses in Jefferson City, Holts Summit, and Callaway County.

Holts Summit resident Breanna Dunnavant caught the man on her surveillance tape stealing a package from her front porch.

After notifying the Callaway County Sheriff's Department, she decided to post the surveillance video to Facebook.

"He urged us to, thinking that maybe if locals saw the face and the vehicle they'd be able to find who it was faster," Dunnavant said. "It just exploded."

Dunnavant said she received a call from the suspect's daughter, identifying him as John Jaegers.

Officials involved in the investigation confirmed that the suspect's name is John Jaegers.

Sergeant Marc Haycook said the suspect is in custody and they are working to find and return packages that were stolen.

Haycook advises anyone who thinks they may have had a package stolen to contact law enforcement in their area.
