St. Stanislaus School to Close Tuesday for Illness
JEFFERSON CITY - St. Stanislaus School will be closed Tuesday, January 31 due to an increase in student and staff illnesses. The school reports an outbreak of influenza and strep throat.
"About one-third of the teachers are out sick," Principal Nancy Herberlie said.
This is in addition to 25 sick children. The school janitor also called in sick.
Staff members, teachers and students who managed to stay healthy pitched in Monday evening to disinfect classrooms and supplies.
This is the second school closing in Missouri this week and the third in less than a week.
The Kansas City school district cancelled classes in 18 of its schools on Monday because of flu-like symptoms.
An influenza outbreak on Friday in Tipton forced St. Andrews Catholic School to close.
