Teachers May Have Less Options For Work
COLUMBIA-If you are a graduating senior, the prospect of May puts a smile on your face, but the dwindling job market will wipe that smile right off... especially if you are an Education Major.
Getting a job might be hard because of the large amounts of state budget cuts to education, which are affecting both current and future educators.
Tuesday evening, hundreds of people stood in line hoping for a job and met with Columbia Public School leaders. Columbia Public Schools employ about 1,600 teachers, but they say in the upcoming years the district will hire fewer people because of the lack of funding.
This situation will make job hunting more competitive... something that future graduating teachers and current ones are finding out the hard way.
