The third annual Adventure Challenge brings the community together

HALLSVILLE- Missouri State Parks hosted its third annual Fingers Lake Adventure Challenege on Saturday.

The challenge consisted of a 5K Kayak race and a 5K run.

The registration fee is $30, and the race is open to both children and adults.

Debbie Newby, park superintendent, enjoys seeing people come out and enjoy nature.

"We are just gratrful that people get to come out and enjoy the park and get out on the water, and the weather was great today and it turned out well," Newby said.

This years winner, Rusty Self, finished the whole challenge in an hour.

"I really enjoy the challenge of it. I really enjoy the kayaking because  becuase its a great way to get on the water and its usually very quiet but when you get done you feel like you had a great day on the water," Self said.

The race happens every year, the weekend after Labor Day.
