Waynesville chief deputy: Highway U accident victims were military
WAYNESVILLE - Chief Pulaski County Deputy John Grove confirmed the four victims involved in a Highway U accident Monday were soldiers from Fort Leonard Wood military base.
Groves said they are unable to release their names at this time.
Groves said there were no warning signs on Highway U and nothing could've been done to prevent the accident.
Groves also said the road may have looked driveable to the eye but there was no way of knowing it was dangerous.
"The swiftness of the water flipped the car and took the car downstream," Groves said.
Groves said they are currently in he process of closing and opening roads as they see fit.
