Symposium on Shared History of Germans and African Americans in Missouri

Description: This open forum will address the key role German immigrants played in the abolition of slavery in Missouri. Prominent scholars, historians and a playwright will share this amazing history with a panel discussion. (Dr. Gary Kremer, Executive Director of the State Historical Society pictured) There will also be music from the African American and German community followed by a live excerpt of the highly acclaimed play AN AMAZING STORY: GERMAN ABOLITIONISTS OF MISSOURI. Attendees are invited to take a special tour of Deutschheim State Historic Site, available from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, 101 W. Second Street.
