    ST. LOUIS - The defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues, winners of 12 of their last 17, are firmly in the driver's seat in the Central Division as they exit the All-Star break and move into the unofficial second half of the season.

    Through 49 games played, the Blues have accumulated 68 points, six more than the second-place Colorado Avalanche. Winning streaks of 8 and 4 games in December and January have propelled them to the best record in the Western Conference.

    CALABASAS, Calif. - NBC reports Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna are among nine people who died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Sunday morning. 

    Bryant is a former Los Angeles Laker basketball player, 18-time all-star, two-time finals MVP, two-time Olympic gold medalist, 2008 MVP, and five-time NBA Champion.

    MORGANTOWN, WV - The Tigers walked into the WVU Coliseum and suffered a 74-51 defeat to the 14th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday.

    The Tiger defense looked helpless at the beginning of the game after West Virginia took an early 20-8 lead. They managed to gain some momentum close the gap to a single point point going into halftime.

    COLLEGE STATION, TX - The Missouri Tigers track and field team traveled to Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, TX for the Aggie Invitational on Saturday. Both the Men's and Women's teams finished 3rd behind Texas A&M and Baylor.

    It was a rough start for Mizzou in the prelims as junior Jazmyn Shumaker fell short of qualifying for the Women's 60 M race by .2 seconds. In the Men's 60 M Prelims both Nylo Clarke, junior, and Nyles Thomas, freshman, qualified while Jayson Ashford fell just short. Caulin Graves did not start the race. Freshman Chris McKinzy Jr. was the final qualifier in the Men's 60 M Hurdles prelims.

    ST. LOUIS, MO - The Columbia Cougars men's team fell to the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets 85-72 in St. Louis on Thursday. The Cougars fall to 12-8 on the season and 7-5 in AMC play.

    The Cougars walked into St. Louis and the crowd was against them from the start. The Hornets used the fans to their advantage and took an early lead after putting up an 11-0 run. The Cougars managed to cut the Hornets lead to 9 going into halftime.

    ST. LOUIS, MO - The Columbia Cougars women's team took on conference opponent Harris-Stowe State University Hornets in St. Louis on Thursday. The Cougars defeated the Hornets 63-44 to improve to 12-1 in conference play and 16-3 on the season.

    The Cougars stifled any offense that the Hornets had in the first quarter holding them to single digits. The Hornets had no answer for the Cougars offense who went on a 13-3 run and put 21 in the first.

    ST. LOUIS, MO - Four members of the St. Louis Blues will participate in the 2020 NHL All Star Skills weekend at the Enterprise Center.

    Blues goalie Jordan Binnington will compete against the top goalies in the league to see who can make the most saves in the Bud Light NHL Save Streak. Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo will compete against seven other skaters in the Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting competition. Forwards Ryan O'Reilly and David Perron will compete in the Gatorade NHL Shooting Stars competition.

    COLUMBIA - There is a new face representing Mizzou volleyball as defensive specialist Erin Williamson will join the Tigers 2020 roster.

    She will be a redshirt sophomore in the spring after playing the last two seasons at the University of Arizona in which she redshirted her first season and appeared in 14 matches for the Wildcats last season.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Royals star catcher Salvador Perez is about to become a U.S. citizen.

    Perez passed his citizenship exam earlier this month and will be be joined by Chief U.S. District Judge Beth Phillips on the Royals FanFest main stage Friday at the Kansas City Convention Center to take the oath of allegiance, the Royals said in a news release.
