COLUMBIA - The Missouri Tigers defeated the Ole Miss Rebels 38-27 Saturday.

On the ground and through the air the Tigers offense was stellar. Larry Rountree III found the end zone twice on 126 yards rushing. Kelly Bryant finished with 329 yards passing and a beautiful 17 yard strike to Tyler Badie for his lone passing touchdown.

Ole Miss grabbed the lead early on a long pass from QB John Rhys Plumlee to Scottie Phillips. However, Mizzou would respond with 28 unanswered points.

In that 28 point stretch, Tucker McCann made three field goals, Tyler Badie scored on a receiving touchdown and Larry Rountree III and Dawson Downing both rumbled to touchdowns on runs of 40 plus yards each.

Mizzou's defense looked dominant for most of the game, limiting the Rebels to only two scores by the end of the third quarter. The Tigers led 35-14 into the 4th quarter but Ole Miss refused to give up. Scoring twice in the final quarter, the Rebels cut the deficit to 11 with six minutes left.

Kelly Bryant responded well and took the Tigers on an offensive drive that shut the door on the Ole Miss comeback and secured the 38-27 victory on homecoming night for Missouri.

With South Carolina's upset of Georgia and Florida's loss to LSU, Mizzou stands alone in first place in the SEC East.

The 5-1 Missouri Tigers travel to Nashville, Tennessee next week for an SEC East meeting against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
