Winter warning and water main break causes caution on the roadPosted on 15 December 2019 at 10:14am
BOONE COUNTY - A water main break Sunday morning froze over the road, causing a traffic hazard in Boone County.
Boone County Joint Commissioner said it happened at Audubon Drive and Shepard Boulevard, and said to avoid the area if possible.
This comes after the Boone County Office of Emergency Management issued a winter storm morning, effective until Monday night.
The Live Doppler 8 First Alert Weather Team is expecting 4-7 inches of snow with localized snow bands of up to 9 inches possible for most of the area. Snow will be moderate to heavy at times and visibility will reduced.
The office recommends anyone traveling to start with a full tank of gas and travel with a winter storm kit in case you get stuck.
Multiple law enforcement agencies and other officials have recommended people stay off the roads and avoid traveling today if they can.
A wintry mix could bring icy conditions into Monday evening. If you can avoid it, DO NOT TRAVEL in these conditions. Delay your travel until this winter event passes.

Our crews are ready to treat and plow roads across the district as this system moves in, but this could be a rapidly changing event and the safest option is always to stay at home if possible! #BUPD #midmowx https://t.co/QReErJBLq7
