Greene County begins to epi-link COVID-19 casesPosted on 27 March 2020 at 11:46pm
GREENE COUNTY - The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is "epi-linking" COVID-19 cases.
A person's case is epi-linked if they are assumed to have the virus due to close contact with someone with a confirmed case and evidence of symptoms connected to COVID-19. There is no prior lab testing needed for an epi-linked case.
As of this afternoon, 41 cases and four deaths were reported from Greene County. Springfield-Greene County health officials say the four victims were all from Morningside Assisted Living.
The latest victim was a 90-year-old woman at Morningside Assisted Living who, according to Health officials, died before four other residents were diagnosed. But her death is still tied to the living facility due to living in close contact with others.
Three of the latest cases in the county are epi-linked because in these cases, two people in the patients' households had confirmed cases.
