I-70 shooting in Montgomery County leads to arrest in Boone CountyPosted on 9 April 2020 at 3:05pm
MONTGOMERY COUNTY - Chad Michael Kennedy, 28, of Boonville, was arrested and charged with assault, criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.
On Tuesday, Kennedy fired shots at a moving vehicle while both vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-70 in Montgomery County. The gun shots disabled the victims car which came to a stop at the 175-mile marker.
According to a release from Missouri State Highway Patrol, two tractor trailers parked their trucks around the van to shield it from additional gun fire. The victims car had three people in it, and no injuries were reported.
Troopers located Kennedy near the intersection of Highway 63 and I-70 in Boone County, and he was taken to Montgomery County Jail where he was denied bond. He was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
There is no known connection between the victims and the suspect.
