UPDATE: Victim in deadly car crash south of Ashland identifiedPosted on 7 December 2017 at 9:15am
BOONE COUNTY- Authorities identified the man who died in Thursday morning's crash at the intersection of Highway 63 and Zumwalt Road south of Ashland.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Aaron Meeks crashed into the back of a dump truck shortly after 6:30 a.m. Meeks, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
Investigators said speed was a factor in the crash.
"The difficulty is that drivers get agressive," Trooper Gentry Pemberton with the Highway Patrol said. "When they encounter a slow driver, instead of staying safe and passing, they tend to go pretty fast. What we see is, especially in the morning commute hours, a tendency to drive quickly, aggressively, trying to get around people on their way to work."
The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.
