1 dead, 5 hurt in St. Louis bar shooting
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A former St. Louis police officer who shot a robber at a bar six years ago did so again this week, during an armed robbery in which five people were injured and a 63-year-old woman died.
Police say three men on Tuesday attempted to rob Pooh's Corner, a popular cop hangout. One of the men, Corey Wade, shot the former officer in the thigh.
Authorities say the ex-officer, who worked for the department in the 1970s, returned fire, shooting Wade in the eye. In 2008, he also shot a would-be robber while working as a bartender at the tavern.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports prosecutors have charged Wade and Derreaun Davis in the crime. Investigators say the unknown third gunman fled in a stolen vehicle.
The St. Louis Circuit Clerk's Office says Wade and Davis don't have an attorney yet.
