100 evacuated after natural gas leak in Warrenton
WARRENTON (AP) - A natural gas leak in the eastern Missouri town of Warrenton has forced the evacuation of about 100 residents.
The leak was reported Monday afternoon. KTVI-TV reports that city workers were cleaning a sewer when they struck a gas line near the intersection of Highway 47 and Route M.
The leak created the risk of an explosion. Employees of the utility Ameren were going door-to-door to make sure residents got out of their homes. No injuries or illnesses were reported.
