12 Jurors Selected so far for Sheley Murder Trial
MORRISON, Ill. - The third day of jury selection ended with 12 men and women chosen to hear the second trial of a man accused of killing eight people in Illinois and Missouri in 2008.
The eight men and four women seated Thursday will hear the trial of Nicholas Sheley. Three alternate jurors remain to be chosen.
Among those picked for the jury are a retired highway maintenance worker, a farmer's wife, a maintenance worker, and a funeral home director.
The (Sterling) Daily Gazette reports a preschool teacher selected Monday was dismissed Thursday after expressing concerns about finding a replacement for work.
The 33-year-old Sheley has pleaded not guilty to killing 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling. He's been convicted in the murder of a Galesburg man and faces trials in six other deaths.
