13-Year-Old Boy May Face Life in Prison
Prosecutors said today a grand jury has indicted Sherman Burnett Junior. He'd already been certified to stand trial as an adult on charges of kidnapping, forcible sodomy, assault and sexual misconduct. The attack happened in November in the north St. Louis County town Spanish Lake. A police officer found the girl in the woods behind her home, about 11 hours after she was reported missing. She was barely alive. Burnett is being held on $300,000 bond at the county jail, where he is the youngest inmate in recent memory.
