13 Years After Mo. Woman's Death, Case Revisited
QULIN (AP) - Thirteen years after Carla Austin was killed, authorities are taking another look at the southeast Missouri cold case in hopes of finding the killer.
KFVS-TV (http://bit.ly/HKM0zO ) reports that Austin's body was exhumed last month in Butler County as part of a renewed investigation. Sheriff Mark Dobbs says he decided to revisit the case after a visit by Mindy Crafford, Austin's daughter. He says new technology could aid in the search for the killer, and he believes there are witnesses who may have information.
Austin was last seen going for a night on the town in Qulin, Mo., near Poplar Bluff, in August 1999. Her body was found three months later by hunters near a county road.
