2 injured in Jefferson City car crash, alcohol suspected
JEFFERSON CITY — Jefferson City police said they suspect alcohol was involved in a car crash that hospitalized two people early Monday morning.
Jon Tolen, 35, and Denise Tolen, 34, were injured when their car veered from the roadway around 12:30 a.m.
According to police, the car hit a concrete median on Highway 50/63 in east Jefferson City before veering off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail near the Clark Avenue exit ramp.
Jon, the driver, was taken to Capital Region Medical Center with minor injuries. Denise got serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital in Columbia.
Authorities blocked one westbound lane of Highway 50/63 during an hour-long investigation into the crash.
