3 people charged after school bus hit by bullets in shooting
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) — Three people have been charged in connection with a shooting in which bullets also hit a bus carrying Jefferson City Public School students.
The Jefferson City News-Tribune reports 20-year-old Royce Kemp of Jefferson City and 23-year-old Jermaine Gray, whom police said is from Fulton were taken into custody Thursday night. Court documents list Springfield as Gray's hometown. A 17-year-old third suspect was still being sought Friday night.
All three are charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. One also is facing a drug possession charge.
Police say one person was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening wounds after a shooting at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday. A school bus carrying 21 elementary school pupils was driving through the area when it was hit by four bullets, including one that broke a window.
