$30-million packaging factory to be built in Rolla
ROLLA — A Danish food-packaging manufacturer says it plans to build a $30-million factory in Rolla, creating about 50 jobs.
As part of the expansion announced Tuesday by Gov. Jay Nixon, Brodrene Hartmann says the 334,000-square-foot Rolla plant will make molded-fiber egg cartons. The cartons will be made of recycled newspaper from the Midwest.
The company plans to begin hiring this summer. Operations are expected to begin early next year.
Brodrene Hartmann, which is nearly a century old, has 2,100 employees worldwide, with operations in Europe, Israel, South America and Canada.
Nixon met with the company's executives this month during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
