Ag Secretary Vilsack in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is scheduled to give an address in Kansas City about a new federal initiative aimed at helping rural areas of the country.
Vilsack is scheduled to address members of the Council on Foundation's Rural Philanthropy Conference. The group's two-day meeting in Kansas City ends Wednesday.
Vilsack is expected to discuss the White House Rural Council, created last month. The council is responsible for providing recommendations to the president on investment in rural areas, as well as coordinating with a variety of rural interests, including agricultural groups, small businesses, and state, local and tribal governments.
