COLUMBIA - Tonight, the Columbia city council heard public comment on MESA Airlines' proposal to cancel all of its flights from Columbia Regional Airport to St. Louis.
The MESA Airlines president says the change is vital for future success of the company.
He says fewer passengers are heading to St. Louis and wants to increase the number of flights to Kansas City.
One opponent of MESA's plan told the council that the airline should continue flying to St. Louis but offer different flight times so more people could make connecting flights.
