Airport Worker Finds Bag of Jewels
AP-MO--Jewelry Found,0129KCI worker turns in cargo bag filled with jewelry KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A jewelry store chain is thanking a Kansas City airline employee who found a cargo bag with 266-thousand dollars worth of jewelry inside and took it to police. Midwest Airlines ramp agent Robert Lewis saw the Brinks cargo bag in the middle of the street as he left Kansas City International Airport for home Monday night. Inside Lewis found a 40-pound box marked Helzberg Diamonds containing wedding rings, bands, sets and loose stones. Lewis said he took the bag and its contents to airport police. The bag was being shipped to New Jersey. Helzberg Diamonds got its jewelry back, and C-E-O Marvin Beasley says the company will find up "a nice way to thank" Lewis.
