Almeta Crayton to Hold Another Thanksgiving Food Drive
COLUMBIA - Columbia's Almeta Crayton will hold another food drive at Moser's on Business Loop 70 West Wednesday morning. The drive starts at 6:30 a.m. and lasts the entire day. Crayton had previously scheduled just two food drives, but with the success of the last one Nov. 6, Crayton will have her second drive of the year on Wednesday and the third on Nov. 20.
For the past 12 years, Almeta Crayton has held Thanksgiving food drives in Columbia and this year is no different, despite Crayton being ill. Crayton is suffering from a kidney disease that makes it hard for her to even walk, but she scheduled another food drive she hadn't previously expected.
Crayton says the feast brings joy to her heart every time she helps feed a needy family.
"A lot of people have lost their jobs," explained Crayton. "They don't have the same amount of income that they normally would have, so if those people would pick up the slack, where they even can because it's even hard for them."
