JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Public Service Commission approved an agreement Wednesday afternoon that will enact energy efficiency programs under Ameren Missouri's Missouri Energy Efficiency Investment Act (MEEIA) filing.

Ameren Missouri will also give $1.5 million towards energy efficiency research and $2.75 million towards beginning a new program that would help schools and other tax-exempt organizations.

Ameren will also work with other interested groups to help out customers that are new, not being served, or not being served enough.

As a part of working with these groups, Ameren will identify energy-efficient strategies that could be used as early as 2017 if all customers benefit from the new strategies.
