Ameren Settles with Family Hurt by Ruptured Reservoir
The utility company announced today it has reached a settlement with Jerry and Lisa Toops, although it did not disclose terms. A company spokeswoman wasn't immediately available for comment today. The Toops and their three children were at home in the early morning hours of December 14th when the reservoir collapse sent a torrent of more than one billion gallons of water rushing down the side of Proffit Mountain. The deluge washed away the Toops' house, injuring them and their three children.
