An Anniversary to Remember
College students in Columbia remembered the day by placing 2,977 flags on the Carnahan Quadrangle on the MU campus. Students say it is just one way to reflect on a somber anniversary. Also in Columbia, the Peace Coalition held an annual candlelight vigil downtown, while others hosted a play to re-enact the events right after 9/11.
At Callaway High School, teacher Chris Gray taught his students about the attacks and how history continues to write itself about what happened five years ago.
In Jefferson City, Gov. Blunt honored the servicemen and volunteers who helped in the relief efforts at Ground Zero. He said America is safer now than it was five years ago.
Members of Task Force One remember rushing to New York City to help with the rescue and recovery effort. To the right, you can see a link to pictures the group took while they were there five years ago.
