COLUMBIA — Vincent E. Ferrell Jr., 47, of Mexico, was arrested Wednesday morning in connection to the suspicious package left near the Probation and Parole Office in July.

On July 18, Law enforcement units, the fire department, and medics were dispatched to the Probation and Parole Office off Providence Road after receiving a call about a small package wrapped in duct tape that was seen outside the building.

People were evacuated from the building for safety while officials determined whether or not the package was hazardous. Within one hour the scene was stable and the package was deemed not hazardous.

Ferrell Jr. was identified by officers as the individual who placed the package outside the office. He was arrested on felony charges for making a terrorist threat. His bond has not yet been set by the court.
